The pneumatic pressure tester is a pneumatic test equipment. It uses air, nitrogen, helium or other gas as the test medium to evaluate the integrity of pressure vessels or sealed components. To be specific, the pneumatic tester can pressurize the gas medium to your required pressure and inject it into your workpiece to simulate a pressure environment, thereby determining whether the workpiece’s structural integrity and sealing performance are qualified. How Pneumatic Pressure Tester Works

Automatic pneumatic pressure test machine consists of gas booster, pressure sensor and control module. The gas booster can pressurize the gas medium to your required pressure and injects it into your workpiece. And the pressure sensor will monitor pressure changes in real time during pneumatic test process. Under the automatic control of computer or PLC, the pneumatic test machine can automatically maintain pressure and then unload pressure, finally automatically determine test results. We also offer manual pneumatic test equipment for users with limited budgets. It still retains the functions of boosting gas and automatic maintaining pressure, but the test results need to be judged manually.

How to Perform Pneumatic Test

Pneumatic pressure test contains pressure proof test and leak test. The former aims to verify the material strength or structural integrity of your workpiece, while the latter aims to verify the sealing performance of the workpiece. For pressure proof test, input test parameters on pneumatic test machine, then it will pressurize the workpiece to your preset test pressure, and then maintain the pressure for a while. During pressure holding period, if the pressure drop in workpiece is within your allowable range, the machine will determine test qualified. Otherwise, test unqualified. For leak test, also known as tightness test, the operating steps are the same as above. The pneumatic test machine will determine whether the workpiece is leaking by pressure drop method. You can also use the bubbling method to judge whether the workpiece is leaking.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the differences between pneumatic test and hydrostatic test? Which is safer?

Pneumatic test uses gas as the test medium. Due to the good diffusivity of gas, pneumatic pressure test is particularly suitable for leaking test, namely tightness test or sealing test. However, the compressibility of gas means that energy is released instantaneously during pressure pressure test process, making pneumatic test somewhat risk. Therefore, pneumatic test is not suitable for high pressure test.
Hydrostatic test uses water as the test medium. Due to the incompressibility of water, energy release is gradual during pressure testing process, making hydrostatic test highly safe and particularly suitable for strength test and burst pressure test. Especially for high pressure test, hydrostatic pressure test is more commonly used than pneumatic test.
