Gas booster gas inlet pressure, also known gas booster suction pressure, is an important indicator related to gas booster model selection. It means that the gas booster requires the source gas to have a certain initial pressure. And there are two reasons for this.
1. Gas initial pressure represents whether your gas supply is sufficient.
Let me take the most extreme case as an example. If your gas initial pressure is zero (gauge pressure), it means that the absolute pressure of your gas is atmospheric pressure. So your gas is completely still in the pipeline or tank, that is, your gas cannot flow freely. Even if your gas initial pressure is 0.1Bar(g), it means that your gas density is very sparse, that is, your gas supply is in poor condition. Gas booster can’t create gas out of nothing, it can only compress gas for you on the basis of your gas supply. If gas booster doesn’t get a sufficient gas supply, it can’t output enough high-pressure gas flow for you.
2. Gas booster's check-valve requires a certain inlet gas pressure to fully open.
The gas booster comes with inlet check-valve and outlet check-valve to ensure the orderly progress of suctioning gas, compressing gas and discharging gas. The check-valve of a gas booster consists four parts: valve seat, spring, ball and seal ring. The gas booster has a certain self-priming ability. However, the inlet check-valve can only fully open when your gas has a certain initial pressure to overcome the spring tension, allowing the gas booster to obtain enough gas for the next compressing gas step.
Different models of gas boosters have different boost ratios, and their inlet check-valve opening pressure settings are also different. For example, Senwell gas booster model GBD07 and GBD100 have boost ratios of 7:1 and 100:1 respectively. And their inlet check-valve opening pressures are set to 3bar and 35ba respectively. In other words, GBD07 requires gas initial pressure reaching 3bar, while GBD100 requires gas initial pressure to be 35bar.

During the gas booster running , if the inlet gas pressure suddenly becomes zero, it proves that your gas supply is interrupted.
