Bleed air is a necessary procedure in hydro test, which is related to the accuracy of the hydrostatic test results.

Why Bleed Air is Necessary in Hydro Test

The hydro test, as known as hydrostatic test, needs to be completed with the help of a hydro test machine. Before the hydro test, a lot of air remains in the hydro test machine internal pipelines and in the test object. The trapped air takes up space in the hydraulic circuit, thereby reducing the hydraulic flow injection amount. To make matters worse, during the process of injecting hydraulic flow into the test object, the residual air will form a lot of tiny bubbles under the action of high pressure, thus seriously affecting the pressure index accuracy in the hydro test.

How to Bleed Air in Hydrostatic Test

There are two methods to bleed air from the hydrostatic test machine and the test object before carrying out hydro test.
1. If your test object is small-sized and your testing pressure is not high, you could directly activate the hydraulic pump built in the hydro test machine to inject hydraulic flow into the test object circularly, thus bleeding the residual air.
2. If your testing object is large-sized and your testing pressure is high, we recommend adding an electric water pump in hydro test equipment to quickly bleed air bubbles. That is, use the electric water pump to pre-fill water into the test object circularly. During this process, air bubbles will flow into the water tank built in the hydro test machine, and finally be discharged into the atmosphere through the vent port on the water tank. Then, you can activate the hydraulic pump to preform the hydro test.
