Gas booster pump and gas booster system

Air Driven Gas Boosters

Gas pressure booster, as known as gas boosting pump, can help you safely compress diverse gases up to 160MPa. And it is widely used for transferring gas, filling gas, recycling gas, pneumatic test, pressure calibration and more. Powered by compressed air, gas pressure booster has no risk of electric sparks and flames, thus explosion-proof and applicable to most gases including flammable gases. We provide five series and multiple models of gas boosting pumps to meet your dual demands on pressure and flow. In addition to nitrogen boosters, we have also specially developed air booster, oxygen booster, hydrogen booster, Co2 booster, biogas booster, methane booster, CNG booster and more.

Working Principle of Gas Boosters

Gas booster structure principle diagram

Gas booster has a large piston and a small piston, and uses the area difference between the two pistons to pressurize gas. That is, when compressed air pushes the large piston to reciprocate, the small piston also reciprocates synchronously, thereby continuously compressing gas to increase gas pressure.

How to Operate Gas Boosters

Gas booster operation diagram

Gas boosting pump discharge pressure is equal to the driving air pressure multiplied by its boost ratio. Since the boost ratio is fixed value, gas booster discharge pressure is always proportional to the driving air pressure. Therefore, you can easily adjust gas boosting pump outlet pressure by adjusting air supply pressure.

Benefits of Gas Boosters

  • Boost gas up to 160MPa and pressure adjustable
  • No electric spark and flame risk, thus explosion proof
  • Applicable to most gases such as oxygen, hydrogen, N2, Co2
  • Dry compression optional to ensure gas purity
  • Exhaust cooling system equipped to achieve self-cooling
  • Automatic start and stop under any preset pressure

Typical Applications

  • Compress hydrogen, oxygen, natural gas and most gases
  • Transfer and fill gas from a source tank to cylinder
  • Recycle helium gas or refill helium or tracer gas
  • Pneumatic pressure test and leaking test
  • Pressure calibration and relief valves setting
  • Serve as gas injection station for plastic foaming

Gas Booster System

To facilitate your operation, we integrate gas booster pump, control kit and high-pressure fitting into a robust skid to create a gas booster station. It is ready to connect, easy to operate and versatile. For example, it can serve as a gas filling machine, gas recovery machine, pneumatic pressure tester or gas compressor station.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I use gas pressure booster if my gas initial pressure is very low?

If your gas initial pressure is very low, but you want to get a higher pressure, our GBT series is your ideal choice. And if the gauge pressure of your gas is zero, please select our models GBS01, GBS02 or GBS05, all of which have strong self-priming ability. Please contact us for more details.

Gas pressure boosters can process gas, gas-liquid mixture and vapor. If you want to transfer or fill liquid gas such as Liquid Co2, LPG, Butane or Propane, please use our Liquid gas pumps.

Yes. For high temperature gas, we will equip the gas pressure booster with heat resistant seals such as FFKM or PTFE. To extend the device service life, please make sure that your source gas temperature does not exceed 98°C. If your source gas temperature is too high, please use a gas cooler to cool the gas first.

Gas temperature will rise during gas compression process, which is an inevitable physical phenomenon. However, Senwell gas pressure booster comes with exhaust cooling system to achieve active self-cooling, which uses low-temperature exhaust air to actively cool the high-pressure gas. To further cool the boosted gas, you can install a gas cooler.

We offer both oil-containing and oil-free compression options for you to choose from. For industrial gases such as nitrogen, we recommend using oil-containing compression, of course it is up to you. For high-purity gases and flammable gases such as hydrogen, oxygen, natural gas, methane, we use oil-free compression (dry compression).
